Three killed, 13 injured as another spell of rain hits KP

As many as three people lost their lives in rain-related incidents in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the last 24 hours.
According to a report issued by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) here on Thursday, in addition to the deaths, 13 people have been injured in the province.
The PDMA said that in the last 24 hours, two men and a child were killed in rain related incidents in Swat and Dera Ismail Khan.
The report added that over 33 houses have partially been damaged while 10 were completely perished in the rains.
The PDMA said that it has been dispatching relief items to the residents of DI Khan; an area most affected by the recent rainy spells in the province.
According to the instructions of the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the relief operations of the concerned district administration are ongoing, it added.
“The concerned district administration is taking steps to restore the blocked roads,” PDMA
Chief Minister Mahmood Khan has instructed all the agencies to remain on high alert, while teams have been dispatched to rescue stranded people in affected areas.
The Meteorological Department has predicted more rains in the next 24 hours, adding that rain in the province could cause landslides, flooding in rivers and canals.
The authority also added in the statement that the flow of water in all rivers of the province was normal at this time.
Separately, the PDMA has said that its control room was active 24/7 and urged people to report any untoward incident to the helpline 1700.
