A meeting chaired by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Speaker Babar Saleem Swati reviewed progress on the Timergara Medical College project and decided to complete all remaining requirements on a priority basis to make the institution operational at the earliest.
The meeting was attended by Provincial Health Minister Khaliqur Rehman, Health Secretary Fayyaz Ali Shah and other senior officials of the health department, said a handout.
The statement said the participants reviewed the progress made so far, issues hindering the college’s functioning and measures required for its early operationalisation.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Rehman said the KP government was taking practical steps not only to provide quality healthcare facilities to the people but also to promote and strengthen medical education in the province.
He said the completion and operationalisation of Timergara Medical College would provide young people in the area with better opportunities to pursue medical education and would also help improve healthcare services at the local level.
Mr Swati described the medical college as a project of significant public importance and directed the relevant authorities to remove all obstacles hindering its operationalisation and complete the remaining requirements at the earliest.
Health Secretary Fayyaz Ali Shah and other officials briefed the meeting on the progress of the project and the proposed course of action for its completion.
Mr Rehman said the Timergara Medical College would, God willing, be made fully operational soon and assured that the health department would utilise all available resources to achieve the objective.
