The City Traffic Police (CTP) Peshawar set up an awareness stall at the Motorway Toll Plaza on Friday to commemorate Independence Day, distributing national flags, badges and educational material to citizens.
Chief Traffic Officer Dr Zahidullah, who inaugurated the stall, said that freedom was a great blessing that must be valued. “Nations deprived of freedom lose their identity,” he said.
Paying tribute to the Pakistan Armed Forces, police and other law enforcement agencies, Dr Zahidullah said peace in the country had been made possible by their sacrifices and hard work.
“On this day, we pledge that we will not hesitate to make any sacrifice for the country and the nation, and the police will continue to play the role of a frontline force for the security of Pakistan,” he added.
SP Headquarters Rozia Altaf and the Traffic Education Team were also present at the stall. They distributed national flags, badges, and Gulabad among citizens, while children were given sunglasses and pamphlets detailing traffic laws.
Dr Zahidullah urged citizens to follow traffic rules to help improve the city’s traffic system and prove themselves responsible members of society.
In view of Independence Day celebrations, he also appealed to motorcyclists to refrain from one-wheeling and from riding motorcycles without silencers.
The CTP said similar awareness activities would continue across the city during the Independence Day week.
