The transport community in Khyber demanded of the concerned authorities to revise the implementation of Temporary Admission Document (TAD) policy at Torkham border as it multiplied their miseries.
Addressing to a press conference in Landi Kotal press club district Khyber on Friday officer bearers of Transport Association, Torkham Mirajuddin Shinwari,Clearing Agents Association,Torkham head Aimal Shinwari, All transport Truck and Trailer Association Yousaf Afridi, Khyber Trailer Association Jahanzeb Afridi, representatives of Supreme Transport Truck and Trailer Association, Azad Qabail Welfare Association, All Pakistan Combined Truck and Trailer Association and others expressed their regret over the abrupt imposition of TAD policy at the Torkham border and said the newly system brought the transport movement to halt as large number of vehicles lacked the document.
They maintained that hundreds of export and import loaded trucks had stranded at the both sides of the border due to being short of TAD.
The transporters urged the Pak-Afghan officials to extend the deadline of availing the TAD to the end of the year that had already expired on 31 July, 2024.
Slow pace of issuing of TAD certificates by the Conciliates and Embassies of Pakistan and Afghanistan and irregularities in granting of the document were the main reasons that deprived the transporters of getting TAD, they maintained.
They threatened that if their demands were not addressed forthwith, on 22 August, 2024 they would organize a wheel jam strike across the district and will completely stop export and import via Torkham border.
They also warned trade communities’ especially perishable items exporters and importers in Pakistan and Afghanistan to avoid loading of their business commodities after 22 August 2024 to keep themselves safe of financial loss and inconvenience at Torkham border.
