PESHAWAR: Faqirabad police on Saturday claimed to have arrested a female suspect involved in the theft of valuable gold ornaments from an elderly woman in Gulbahar. The arrest was made following a coordinated operation led by SHO Gulbahar Police Station Rafiq Khan, under the supervision of DSP Gulbahar Circle Akhtar Naseer Khan, on the directives of SP Faqirabad Division Muhammad Arshad Khan. According to police sources, the operation was carried out with the support of the Ladies Police and based on technical surveillance and scientific investigation methods. The suspect, identified as wife of Nisar Khan and a resident of Shaftal Banda, Phandu area of the provincial capital, was traced and apprehended after extensive efforts using CCTV footage and modern investigative tools. During the initial investigation, the arrested woman confessed to the crime. Police also recovered Rs1.51 million from the suspect, which she had received from selling the stolen gold. The case originated when daughter of Musharraf Khan filed a report at the Gulbahar Police Station. A case was registered, and senior police officials took immediate notice, forming a special investigation team to track down the culprit. The accused has been handed over to the Women Police Station for further investigation, where, according to officials, more significant and potentially revealing disclosures are expected in connection with other related incidents.
