The angry citizens staged a protest against the non-availability of free flour at the mega point organized at Mardan Sports Complex (MSC) police baton-charged to disperse the masses. The angry citizens blocked Mardan Nowshera road block for all kinds of traffic for several hours as a protest, sources and locals said.
Sources added that a large number of people were present outside and inside the mega point organized at Mardan sports complex for the distribution of free flour. Sources added that a truck full of sugar bags was going on the road in front of the sports complex. Sources added that some people standing outside the sports complex mistaking it as a free flour truck attacked it.
Sources added that the police standing for the security want to stop the people. The people started throwing stones at the police. Police also started baton charge on the people. Sources added that some police cops, a child got injured.
Additional Assistant Commissioner (AAC) Headquarter Junaid Khalid who is incharge of the distribution point clarified that distribution of free flour is going on in a fair manner under the online mechanism, but some disruptive elements are trying to disturb the peaceful environment which the administration does not allow.
He said that the distribution of flour is going on as per routine and will continue till the end of Ramadan.
