An important meeting held here on Wednesday with provincial minister for agriculture and livestock Abdul Halim Kasuria in the chair, reviewed ongoing development projects of Soil and Water Conservation in settled and Newly Merged Areas (NMAs).
The meeting was attended by Director General Soil and Water Conservation Yaseen Khan Wazir and other concerned officials of the agriculture department. The meeting was briefed on ongoing schemes of silt and water conservation in the province, construction of ground water recharge, cultivation through rainwater in the NMAs.
During the meeting the officials also briefed the forum about projects initiated by the provincial government with financial assistance from the World Bank (WB).
The lands are used for irrigation, from which the farmers and landlords are benefiting a lot, while the rainwater is also used by the people at home.
On this occasion, Abdul Halim Kasuria said that people are facing shortage of water in the southern districts and the role of silage and water conservation is very important in these districts. The minister also issued instructions to officials for early completion of all schemes in their stipulated period of time.
