KHYBER
The contract teachers, posted in merged tribal districts, demanded of the concerned authorities to reinstate them permanently and pay them their arrears for the last eight months salaries.
It is to be stated here that the provincial government has fired contract teachers after expiring their contract in 2024.
Addressing to a press conference held in Landi Kotal press club, district Khyber on Saturday Jameel Khan, tehsil head of the contract teachers union, President Tanzeeme-e-Asateza, Pakistan Khyber chapter Sharifullah Afridi, Qasim Usman, Samiullah and others said that the then provincial government hired their services as teachers for a year in 2022 on fixed pay of Rs, 25000 and renowned it in 2023.
But in 2024 almost 3000 teachers (male-female) from across the merged tribal districts were fired from their jobs without paying them their eight months arrears, which proved an anti-education policy of the government, they added.
The decision of the government not only suffered the adhoc base teachers, they added but also put at stake the future of the students in the government-run schools.
Enrollments in the schools and learning skills in the students had increased many fold because of good performance of the adhoc teachers, they remarked.
They urged the concerned authorities to have mercy on the poor students and reinstate them permanently and forthwith pay them their eight months arrears.
They regretted that they convoyed their grievances to the parliamentarians but to in avail.
The teachers’ threatened that if their demands were not fulfilled then the hired teachers from across the ex-tribal region would initiate a protest demo in front of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assembly and the Secretariat.
