In a series of successful anti-narcotics operations, the Excise Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has thwarted two major drug smuggling attempts, recovering large quantities of heroin and crystal meth (ice) in separate incidents.
Under the special directives of Provincial Incharge Bureau of Intelligence and Investigation, Saud Khan Gandapur, and with the leadership of Secretary Excise Syed Fayyaz Ali Shah and Director General Excise Abdul Halim Khan, the Excise Intelligence Bureau teams conducted targeted operations against drug peddlers, smugglers, and their facilitators.
In one operation conducted on GT Road towards Nowshera, the EIB-V Squad, led by Sub-Inspectors Adnan Shahid and Nasir Ameer, intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number EA 4548. Upon inspection, 24,000 grams of heroin were recovered, cleverly concealed within the vehicle’s spare tire.
In another operation near Peshtakhra Chowk, en route to Peshawar Airport, the Excise team recovered 1,172 grams of ice hidden in the bag of a suspected drug smuggler. The accused, identified as Shakirullah, was arrested on the spot. His passport and travel ticket were also seized, indicating his links to an international and inter-provincial drug network.
Officials confirmed that further investigation and legal proceedings have been initiated at the Excise Police Station Peshawar.
