The Pakistan Pediatric Association (PPA), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has welcomed the provincial government’s decision to release Rs2.1 billion for the operationalisation of the Children’s Hospital affiliated with the Khyber Institute of Child Health (KICH), describing it as a major step towards improving child healthcare in the province.
In a statement issued the association’s president and executive committee thanked Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, Health Minister , Adviser to the Chief Minister on Finance Muzammil Aslam and Health Secretary Shahab Ali Shah for approving the funds.
The association said the allocation would help expedite the operationalisation of the Children’s Hospital, enabling children to access modern diagnostic, emergency and specialised healthcare services.
It said investment in child health was an investment in the country’s future and reaffirmed the association’s commitment to extending professional cooperation to the Khyber Institute of Child Health and the Children’s Hospital in the areas of capacity building, clinical collaboration and the promotion of evidence-based child health policies.
Meanwhile, leaders of the Islamic Doctors Forum , including Prof Dr Muhammad Habib Khattak, Prof Dr Javed Nawab and surgeon Dr Muhammad Ayaz, also welcomed the release of funds and expressed support for the Pakistan Pediatric Association’s demand for the early operationalisation of the Children’s Hospital.
