Police bust 5-member motorcycle lifting gang, recover 4 bikes

The Capital City Police Peshawar have arrested a five-member gang allegedly involved in motorcycle lifting and a separate suspect accused of stealing medicines from a shop, officials said on Thursday.
According to a press release issued here, the operations were carried out on the directives of senior police officers as part of a wider crackdown on street crime, motorcycle snatching and lifting across the district.
Under the instructions of SP City Division Shahid Adnan and the supervision of DSP City Circle Ahmed Rashid Khan, SHO Shah Qabal Police Station Shah Khalid Khan along with police personnel conducted two separate raids in different areas of the city.
In the first operation, police traced and arrested a five-member gang involved in motorcycle lifting in markets and residential localities.
The arrested suspects were identified as Tariq ,Wahabuddin, Naseer Khan, and Zakaria .
Police said four stolen motorcycles were recovered from the possession of the suspects during the raid. The gang was allegedly targeting motorcycles in bazaars, markets and residential areas whenever they found an opportunity.
In the second operation, police arrested Hamza son of Javed, a resident of Guldera, for allegedly stealing expensive medicines from a shop. Stolen medicines were also recovered from his possession.
The press release added that further important revelations are expected from the suspects during investigation.
Police said operations against street criminals and those involved in serious offences would continue across the district in line with directives from senior officers.
