Two held as Excise department seizes drugs in Jamrud

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department has arrested two alleged drug dealers and seized a large quantity of narcotics during raids in Jamrud, Wazir Dhand and adjoining areas, officials said on Thursday. According to the department, the operation was conducted by teams from the Excise police stations in Peshawar and Khyber and the Excise Intelligence Squad. Officials said more than 1,000 grams of crystal methamphetamine (ice), 6,000 grams of hashish, 1,500 grams of opium, 50 grams of heroin and 3,000 intoxicating pills were recovered during the operation. Two bottles of liquor were also seized. The two suspects were arrested and legal proceedings were initiated against them, the department said. The operation was conducted under the supervision of Excise and Taxation Officer (Counter Narcotics Operations) Dr Majid Khan and other senior officials of the department. The Excise department said operations against drug dealers and smugglers would continue across the province, with particular focus on curbing the trafficking of ice and heroin. DLP Report
