A young man from Bajaur, named Subhanullah, with his limited financial resources and tireless efforts of six years, has built a helicopter on his own. His family members while talking to media on Thursday said, Subhanullah’s technical skills and unique effort since his childhood pushed him to go for something unique. The government has indicated that a test demonstration of the helicopter will be held at the Bajaur Sports Complex on September 6. If the trial is successful, permission may be granted for the helicopter to fly.
Subhanullah while describing his passion said, he spent six years working continuously on the project using whatever resources were available to him. He is now preparing to take the helicopter to the testing stage.
He said the government had given him an opportunity to demonstrate the helicopter and assured him that permission to fly it could be considered if the trial proves successful.
Subhanullah comes from a working-class family. During the seasonal period, he earns a living by selling traditional footwear in Punjab, while for the rest of the year he works as a daily-wage labourer to meet his expenses.
He developed an interest in machines from an early age. After learning as a motorcycle mechanics, his fascination with machinery and different mechanical equipment grew further.
While building the helicopter, Subhanullah faced several challenges and had to travel to different cities, including Lahore, Timergara and Peshawar to obtain the required parts and other materials.
His six years of hard work is now set for a practical test, with the helicopter’s trial demonstration expected to take place at the Bajaur Sports Complex on September 6.
