PESHAWAR: In Spin Kanay area of Kaka Sahib in district Nowshera, six positive cases of chikungunya have been confirmed, triggering concern among residents. According to District Health Officer (DHO) Nowshera Akram Shah on Thursday, samples from 15 patients suspected of having chikungunya were tested, of which six returned positive results. The suspected patients were reported to be suffering from symptoms including fever, joint inflammation and severe joint pain. He said all confirmed and suspected patients are in stable condition and none required hospital admission. The patients were provided with necessary medical care at healthcare facilities and discharged to their homes. The DHO also said that no death has been reported in the area due to the disease. The health authorities have urged citizens to take precautionary measures and ensure that stagnant water does not accumulate in streets and neighbourhoods, as it can provide breeding grounds for mosquitoes.
