ISLAMABAD
Islamabad Noon police station has arrested a notorious bootlegger and recovered 700 liquor bottles from him, a police spokesman said.
He said that IGP Islamabad Aamir Zulfiqar assigned the task to DIG (Operations) Waqar Uddin Syed for effective crackdown against those involved in drug peddling and bootlegging activities. DIG (Operations) constituted special teams to ensure arrest of those involved in such ugly business which had started effective action against such elements.
One of the team headed by SP (Industrial Area) Zubair Ahmed including DSP Ghulam Baqir, SHO Noon Police station Sub-Inspector Abdul Razaaq, ASI Barkat Ali and others succeeded to arrest a bootlegger Faisal Masih besides recovered of 700 liquor bottles from him.
DIG (Operations) Islamabad Waqar Uddin Syed has said that these social evils would be curbed and those backing those bootleggers would be dealt with iron hands. He further emphasized that this campaign would be continued until elimination of those social criminals and appealed the citizens to inform police in case of any suspect around them.
The name of informer would be kept secret, he added.
