CCPO Peshawar inspect security arrangements for Muharram

Capital City Police Officer, Qazi Jamilur Rehman, visited the Kohati Gate Command Post to inspect the security arrangements for Muharram.
The CCPO briefed the reporters on arrangements and said that four layers of the security have been set up for the City during Muharram.
He said security officials had been deployed at 62 imambargahs, including nine sabeels and 10 imamia masajid.
The CCPO said that almost 26 imambargahs had been declared most sensitive while the rest were sensitive.
Qazi Jamilur Rehman said the Army was providing full support to the police for the security of Muharram, while the Army Quick Response Force team was readied as a back-up.
Flanked by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations, Javed Iqbal, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Traffic Yasir, Afridi, Superintendent of Police (SP) City, Shahzada Kaukab Farooq and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Headquarters Usman Ghani, the CCPO said over 9,000 security personnel had been deployed. He said the mourning processions routes would be swept four times by the Bomb Disposal Unit and sniffer dogs.
The official said 150 closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras had been added to the City, and all the routes of processions and other important sites would be monitored.
Qazi Jamilur Rehman said the passages had been reviewed and points identified which needed to be plugged.
The official said the police had established checkpoints at the exit and entry points of the City. He said the routes from the tribal districts would be monitored as well.
He said that the Pak Army had been requested for the aerial surveillance on the 9th and 10the Muharram.
The official said Police Commando and Rider Squads were performing security duties in the City’s narrow streets.
Qazi Jamilur Rehman said those living in inns, hotels and guest houses in the city were being checked during Muharram.
The CCPO appealed to the general public through the media to cooperate with the police at the plugging points, checkposts and disclosures so that the force ensured peace during the Muharram.
After talking to the media, the CCPO visited various localities in the City. He reviewed the security, monitored the procession taken out from Mohallah Khudadad and expressed confidence in the fool-proof security provided to the people.
