Court has rejected Aleema Khan plea for summoning federal and provincial ministers, media men and others as witness in November 26 protest case. Earlier Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) had reserved judgment on the petition for summoning ministers, media men as witness following the completion of hearing of November 26 protest case against Aleema Khan. Judge Amjid Ali Shah of ATC took up the case for hearing.
During the hearing of the case arguments were given on Aleema Khan petition for summoning 21 persons including interior minister Mohsin Naqvi, information minister Atta Ullah Tarar.
Provincial minister for information Uzma Bukhari and media men as court’s witnesses This petition was filed in the perspective of November 26 protest case registered in Police station Sadiq Abad. The prosecution took the plea summoning ministers and media men as witness is a dilatory tactics.
Prosecutor said prosecution has closed its case completely. Therefore, Aleema Khan petition be rejected.
According to prosecution court cannot summon any one as witness without any reason. Now defence statement of Aleema Khan be recorded.
On the other hand defence counsel Faisal Malik said the accused can summon any one as witness for their defence.
As per requirements of fair trial summoning ministers and media persons as witness is necessary because no protest was held on November 27 anywhere in Pakistan. Its verification can be made through media.
The court reserved judgment on petition following completion of arguments which was issued later.
The court rejected the plea.
