A delegation from Blue Veins, a non-governmental organization, a member of the Gender and Disability Electoral Working Group, met with Joint Provincial Election Commissioner Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Farid Afridi to discuss a new initiative aimed at enhancing women’s leadership and participation in the electoral process.
The delegation, including Liaison Officer Ayub Khan and Project Coordinator Laiba Khan Yousafzai, held the meeting alongside Sohail Ahmed, spokesperson for the Provincial Election Commissioner.
During the meeting, Ayub Khan briefed the officials on the “She Leads” program, a leadership development project for women being implemented in collaboration with the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES).
He explained that the project will initially provide training in three districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa including Charsadda, Mansehra, and Lower Dir, and is set to launch in January next year.
Khan highlighted that the initiative would require support from the Election Commission to achieve its objectives.
Joint Provincial Election Commissioner Muhammad Farid Afridi expressed the Commission’s commitment to increasing women’s voter registration and ensuring their active participation in elections.
He assured that the Election Commission would support Blue Veins’ initiative.
