Digital census begins in Landi Kotal

Like elsewhere in the country, first ever digital and the 7th census began in Landi Kotal on Wednesday.
It is to be stated here that the new election will be held on the basis of new data.
Providing details, supervisor Mr Ghaffar Afridi said that the whole area had been divided into 166 blocks and services of 84 well-trained enumerators had been hired to carry out the national cause smoothly.
Security had been provided to the enumerators to avoid any untoward incident, he added and urged the residents to tender their data as future development projects and progress works plan keeping in view the census data.
According to the spokesperson of Pakistan Bureau of Statistic (PBS) through a digital portal, introduced on Feb 20, one can submit his, her data while the field operation census initiates on Mar 01,2023 and will continue till April 01 and the data will be released by April 30.
The digital census is being carried out by the PBS with support of the National Technology Council (NTC), National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), provincial governments as well as the armed forces.
The 7th census is the first-ever digital one not only in Pakistan but also in South Asia and for the census, 495 Census Support Centers have been set up across the country, while 126,000 electronic devices will be used in the process, he added.
Speaking about the funding for the census process, the spokesperson said that the total expenditures had been estimated at Rs34 billion.
It’s worth mentioning here that previous censuses have been conducted in Pakistan in the years of 1951, 1961,1972,1981,1998 and 2017.
