Dr. Fahmida Mirza visits NARC

To bring technological and revolutionary change in agriculture, a sound and fair policy which harmonizes the needs of farmer, is required.
This was said by Dr. Fahmida Mirza Federal Minister for Inter Provincial Coordination on her visit along-with Dr. Zulfiqar Mirza at National Agricultural Research Centre Islamabad. Dr. Ghulam Muhammad Ali, Acting Chairman PARC along-with Syed Shamim ul Sibtain Shah DG NARC welcomed the honorable guests.
During her visit at National Agricultural Research Centre, Islamabad, at NIGAB NARC, Dr. Ali briefed her about the accomplishments of NIGAB especially in tissue culture used for the acquisition of high yielding banana cultivar and production of disease free banana and potato plants. Both of the guests, were also told about NIGAB-1 & NIGAB 2 Banana varieties.
Ms. Fahmida Mirza Federal Minister while discussions and taking briefing from Dr. Ghulam Muhammad Ali, along-with other participants told, our country will see a record production of major crops in the coming years as the prime focus of present government is to bring revolutionary change in agriculture.
Federal Minister was also briefed about Kiwi, Olive and other high value crops and were also told about plants and animals DNA technology. Dr. Fahmida also urged to increase of potential of PARC;s umderkot institute.
The Federal Minister also briefed about the Horticulture Research Institute where she expressed keen interest in the research being conducted. Dr. Fahmida also desired to establish a research institute at Badeen. At the end of the visit, Federal Minister visited Rice fields where she inspected long grain and other different varieties of Rice.
