District Police Officer (DPO) Charsadda, Suleman Zafar, has announced key reforms in the driving license issuance process aimed at improving road safety and ensuring that only trained and competent individuals are allowed to drive.
According to a statement issued here, DPO Suleman Zafar personally oversaw written and practical tests for candidates seeking driving licenses.
The evaluation included a detailed assessment of applicants’ knowledge of traffic rules, recognition of road signs, understanding of basic vehicle mechanics, and hands-on driving skills.
Speaking on the occasion, DPO emphasized that driving licenses will now be issued strictly on merit and only to those individuals who demonstrate complete awareness and training. “Untrained drivers are a major cause of road accidents. We are taking practical steps to address this issue by upgrading the entire licensing system,” he said.
He further explained that in addition to practical tests, candidates will now receive a briefing on essential vehicle knowledge.
DSP Headquarters Gul Wali Khan also attended the event, reviewed the testing procedures, and provided guidance to the candidates.
