Federal Minister for Science and Technology ShibliFaraz has said that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) should fulfill its promise to use Electronic Voting Machine (EMV) in local body elections.
Talking to media, ShibliFarazsaid that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) should deliver its promise to use EMV in local body elections. If machines are not acceptable from a private firm, then it is the job of the Election Commission to get the machine as it wants, he said.
He further said that Election Commission should fulfill its promise regarding local body elections in Punjab and Islamabad.
With regard to EVMs, the Ministry did its work on time. We made the machine as per the demand of Election Commission, he added.
The Election Commission has a constitutional and legal right to choose a machine. The international tender will be issued for the selected machine, he said.

He further said that the purpose of our government is not a special machine. It has become a law that 2023 elections will be held on EVM. We believe that things should move forward on a daily basis, he added.
He said that if the Ministry of Science could not manufacture the machines then the Election Commission should invite the tender itself.
We did our job according to the legal procedure, he concluded.
