Excise dept holds meeting with goldsmiths association in Peshawar to address tax issues

In a bid to promote taxpayer facilitation and strengthen engagement with the business community, Director Excise, Taxation & Narcotics Control, Peshawar Region, Syed ul-Amin, chaired a meeting with officials of ETO-II Peshawar and representatives of the Peshawar Goldsmiths Association to discuss property tax-related matters and regulatory procedures.
The meeting focused on issues pertaining to Sarafa Bazaar, with particular emphasis on property tax assessment, payment procedures, and concerns raised by traders, a handout said.
According to the statement, both sides also explored avenues for improving coordination between the Excise Department and the business community.
During the session, representatives of the Goldsmiths Association presented their concerns and suggestions regarding tax assessment and administrative processes, calling for improvements in the existing system to ensure greater clarity and facilitation.
Director Syed ul-Amin assured the delegation that all matters would be addressed in accordance with the law, emphasizing transparency, fairness, and facilitation for taxpayers.
Officials from the Excise and Taxation Department briefed participants on relevant property tax laws, procedures, and government policies, and responded to queries raised by the traders. They reiterated the department’s commitment to resolving legitimate concerns and ensuring smooth tax administration.
Both sides agreed on the importance of continuous dialogue and coordination to resolve tax-related issues amicably, improve revenue collection mechanisms, and create a more business-friendly environment.
The President and members of the Peshawar Goldsmiths Association appreciated the constructive approach of the Excise and Taxation Department and reaffirmed their commitment to cooperation, also offering suggestions for further improvement of the tax system.
