PESHAWAR, Oct29: Chairman, Amun Taraqqi Party (ATP) Muhammad Faiq Shah has asked the rulers to uphold the law and democratic culture/traditions in politics.

Chairing a meeting of the party’s senior leaders and office bearers here at the main office on Saturday, Shah stressed political leaders should make themselves a precedent for rule of law.

Shah furthermore viewed the father of the nation, Quaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah had established a example by fully abiding rule of law.

The ATP Chief remarked: “Whether the past politicians or present rulers and opposition have made joke with law and constitution, and then they are making claims of rule of law”,

The political leaders that were surrounded by enemies should show how it is possible to uphold the law, become a symbol of politics and democracy and the importance of negotiation, he added.

However, he observed that it is presently that the rulers and bureaucracy are intoxicated by politics and they are considering the law to be a wax nose and their maid/servant so how the rest of the people would expect well from them?

Justice has not been done with law, so, he raised a question that: “how will the law punish the powerful people?

Faiq said politics has been used to play the same tune for the past75 years.

Law is restricted to books, and cruelty has risen up in streets and major cities of the country, he added.

He stressed people would follow the rules when the rulers and elites should first adopt this practice.

Rights of poor and downtrodden segments would be protected as well, he added.

He said his party is taking every possible step for rule of law.

We want to make politics part of democratic traditions in which there would be rulers or opposition, accountability and assessment of everyone will be carried out at every place/forum, the ATP chief opined.
