Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Irrigation Riaz Khan on Wednesday chaired a review meeting to assess progress on key irrigation schemes, directing officials to accelerate work while maintaining quality and transparency.
The meeting, held in the committee room of the Irrigation Department, focused on ongoing projects under the Pehur High Level Canal (PHLC) and the Emergency Flood Assistance Project (EFAP).
Project Director PHLC Zar Gul Khan, who also holds additional charge as Project Director EFAP, along with other officials and technical experts, attended the session.
During the briefing, the minister was informed that several projects under both PHLC and EFAP were nearing completion, while progress on others remained satisfactory.
Officials also highlighted key challenges, including delays in fund releases, technical constraints and field-level hurdles. Proposed solutions to address these issues were discussed in detail.
Expressing satisfaction over the pace of work, Riaz Khan underscored the need for timely completion of all schemes without compromising on quality standards. He directed the authorities concerned to further expedite work on ongoing projects.
The minister also stressed the importance of ensuring transparency and merit in execution, calling for a strengthened monitoring mechanism to ensure effective utilisation of resources. He urged field officers to remain proactive in addressing public issues and to take timely decisions based on ground realities.
Riaz Khan said the provincial government was utilising all available resources to complete public welfare projects on time and to promote sustainable development across the province.
