Former chief minister and central leader of awami national party (ANP), Amir Haider Khan Hoti has strongly criticized the provincial government decision of to return back the land of universities or sell it which was purchased for Bacha Khan medical college, Agriculture university and AWKUM in ANP government and announced to call a general meeting of all political parties, lawyers, businessmen, media and civil society.
He expressed these views while addressing a news conference at Mardan press club and addressing the protest rally of ANP in front of Mardan Press Club. Mayor Mardan Himayatullah Mayar, ANP District President Imran Mandori, General Secretary Bin Yameen, Malik Ilyas, Haji Abdul Aziz Khan and large numbers of party office bearers and workers were present at this occasion.
Haider Hoti added that the government should open its ears and listen that those fighting the case of Mardan are alive. He argued that the provincial government is not satisfied with the wheat of Punjab that now the national assets are being sold.
He added that Ali Amin Gandapur should be aware that attempts to plant educational assets will be strongly resisted. Haider Khan Hoti said that the PTI government has imposed an educational emergency in the province and claimed that they will convert the governor’s house and chief minister House into libraries and universities but now they are selling land purchased for universities in Mardan which will definitely not be allowed. He said that PTI should certainly be hostile to his caste but should not play with the future of the nation’s children. Haider Hoti said that the rulers are not satisfied with the flour and wheat of Punjab, now they want to make money by playing with the future of children.
“The government’s priorities are different, don’t give money to 10 to 15 MPAs and release these funds to universities. It’s a matter of vision and preference that the government’s decisions are based on malice”, he added.
He added that think for a moment that the assets of educational institutions are increased and not offered for sale, but we know that the government is taking this step because their people have made advance bookings to purchase these lands. He warned that the provincial government should open its ears and listen that these are national assets and not anyone’s personal property.
The former chief minister said that all the projects were planned on one inch of land, now for eleven years, the second and third phase could not be started in Abdul Wali Khan University, the medical institute was not established in the Bacha Khan Greater Complex, and the work on the agricultural university was not started which is incompetence of PTI government. He said that if anyone objects to the names of Abdul Wali Khan University, Bacha Khan Medical College, they should know that there are institutions named after national celebrities in the entire country, including Punjab and Sindh and if someone tries to change the names of institutions it will be not expectable.
He said that as Chief Minister, he provided land and funds for Khalifa Gul Nawaz Hospital in Bannu, Mufti Mehmood Flyover, Swat Kidney Center and Shaukat Khanum Hospital in Peshawar, but PTI has not laid a single brick in eleven years Pashtuns are being persecuted only on slogans and claims. He said that a Jirga of all political parties including PTI, lawyers, media and civil society will be called.
He argued that if the government does not withdraw its decision, the protest movement will be started and the door of the court will be knocked, but in any case, the provincial government decision will not be accepted.
