The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government will launch a Summer Learning and Grooming Festival for government school students during the summer vacation, offering a mix of academic, leadership, sports and recreational activities aimed at promoting their overall development.
The decision was reviewed at a meeting chaired by Provincial Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education Arshad Ayub Khan, which was attended by senior officials of the Elementary and Secondary Education Department, commissioners of the concerned divisions, chairmen of the Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education and district education officers from participating districts.
According to officials, the programme will be implemented in phases, with around 2,000 students of Classes VI to XII participating in the first phase. Students from 19 districts, including the southern and merged districts, will attend residential summer camps in Swat, Mansehra and Abbottabad.
Speaking at the meeting, the minister said the initiative had been designed to provide students with opportunities beyond the classroom by combining academic learning with personality development, leadership training, teamwork, sports and healthy recreational activities.
He said many talented students, particularly those from the southern and merged districts, had limited access to educational and extracurricular programmes, adding that the festival would provide them with a platform to build confidence, develop leadership skills and interact with students from different parts of the province.
Mr Khan directed the relevant authorities to ensure effective management, safety and quality arrangements at all camp sites, stressing that participants should be provided with a secure and comfortable environment throughout the programme.
“Our objective is not only to provide learning opportunities but also to create lifelong memories for these young students. They should return home with new knowledge, new friendships, greater confidence and experiences that positively shape their future,” he said.
Officials said the festival would feature academic enrichment sessions, creative learning activities, sports, adventure programmes, cultural exchanges, leadership exercises and recreational events. They added that the initiative was expected to strengthen students’ social and communication skills, encourage teamwork and critical thinking, and promote interaction among participants from diverse geographical and cultural backgrounds across the province.
