According to police data for the year 2024, Badhaber, Khazana, and Inqilabad police stations reported the highest number of killings, primarily related to land disputes. Badhaber topped the list with 73 murders, followed by Khazana police station with 47 and Inqilabad police station of the provincial capital with 32.
According to data, other notable areas of the provincial capital included Kotwali with one killing, Machni Gate with 22, Regi with 21, Tehkal with 23, and Pashtakhara with 31 killings.
In addition to land disputes, murders and vandalism over other conflicts also contributed to the violence, with Inqilabad securing the third spot for high numbers of killings in such incidents.
Among the various police stations, the least number of murders were recorded in Gulbahar (a notably safer area), with only a few killings in East (2) and Kotwali (8) police station areas. Other areas like Shah Qabool (3 killings), Shahpur (17), and Daudzai (28) saw moderate to higher numbers of violent incidents.
According to police data for 2024, Peshawar saw a significant increase in the number of crime incidents compared to 2023, with the overall crime ratio rising considerably. The police department has divided the city into six divisions to monitor crime trends.
The Saddar division recorded the highest number of killings, with more than 166 people murdered in 2024. This was followed by the Rural division, which saw 108 killings, and the Cantt division, which reported 96 fatalities.
As per the statics released by the police department for 2024, the Faqirabad division recorded 73 killings, while the Warsak division had approximately 82 killing cases throughout the year.
This sharp increase in crime across various divisions underscores the growing security concerns in Peshawar, especially with regard to violent incidents. The significant rise in the crime ratio calls for stronger law enforcement efforts and strategic interventions to address the underlying issues contributing to this surge in violenc
