SWAT: An important meeting held here on Tuesday with Commissioner Malakand Shaukat Ali Yousafzai in the chair, reviewed steps taken so far regarding the land acquisition for 88MW Gabral Kalam hydropower projects in the district. Deputy Commissioner Swat Junaid Khan, Chief Conservator Forest Malakand Division Gohar Ali, Assistant Commissioner Bahrain Ishaq Ahmed, Director PEDO, Project Director and other concerned officers attended the meeting. The meeting was briefed about the acquisition of land for the construction of the above-mentioned Hydropower Project and some of the problems faced in this regard. Commissioner Malakand Shaukat Ali Yousafzai issued instructions to officials in the meeting to take urgent steps for resolving all outstanding problems and other discrepancies in acquiring lands for the project. He also directed officials concerned on the occasion to form a committee which will inspect the project site and submit its suggestions for solving the obstacles and problems faced. Yousifzai added that the provincial government has decided to initiate work on the 88MW Gabral Kalam hydropower projects in the district as early as possible, adding that the initiative along with other projects of the same nature will generate an annual income of more than Rs13 billion for the province.
