A delegation of traders from district Mohmand, led by Aamir Fida Paracha, met with Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi, at his residence in Islamabad on Monday and discussed inhumane treatment of traders by police.
During the meeting, the traders extensively discussed the issues they face in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, particularly highlighting the inhumane treatment of traders at the Islamabad Vegetable Market and the police behavior at Rawalpindi’s Pir Wadhai and Naseer Abad police stations.
The delegation raised concerns that traders and laborers from the Pashtun community, despite holding national identity cards, are being detained and harassed by police, who falsely label them as foreign nationals. The police then demand bribes for their release.
The Governor assured the delegation that the matter would be taken seriously, and relevant authorities and officials would be instructed to take immediate action.
He further said that the Inspector General of Police and other responsible personnel would be informed about the situation to address the issue.
