The deputy commissioner Orakzai Thursday inaugurated a spring tree plantation campaign by planting a sapling at his office.
The ceremony in this regard was attended by elders, youth, media persons and officials of relevant departments. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the drive has been launched under the Prime Minister’s Clean and Green Pakistan vision in line with directives of the provincial government.
He urged people to come forward to actively part in the campaign to meet the environmental challenges and ensure a healthy atmosphere for citizens.
He said that promoting forests could improve the environment and reduce heat waves in summer and soil erosion.
On the occasion, the DC also distributed 700 saplings free of cost among the people. He directed the health department to work out a proper strategy by constituting teams to ensure that people planted those saplings in their respective areas.
Meanwhile the district administration launched a cleanliness and beautification campaign at the District headquarters Babar Mela. As part of the drive 500 saplings would be planted to make the area clean and green. The administration has also made a plan to plant 100000 saplings in a single day and a site has been chosen for it.
