Police arrested robber involved in snatching cash

The Capital City Police on Wednesday arrested a robber involved in snatching cash, cellphones and other valuables from people in the provincial capital, an official said.
Station House Officer (SHO) Chamkani Police Station Arbab Naeem Haider told reporters that a complainant Nadir Shah, a resident of Mingora Swat reported to the Chamkani police he was going to Swat after exchange the foreign currency when he reached Northern Bypass where unknown suspects millions of rupees snatched at a gunpoint
He said the police lodged first information reports against the unknown accused and started investigation.
He said the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Zahoor Babar Afridi took notice to the incident and formed a police team comprising him, under the supervision of Superintendent of Police (SP) Rural Tariq Habib, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Chamkani Haider Khan and other cops to trace the case immediately.
He said the police investigated the case on scientific lines and collected data of suspects and criminals.
He said the police arrested the main accused of robber gang was identified as Haq Nawaz, a resident of Shabqadar.
He said during the interrogation the accused confessed to the crime.
He said the police recovered 1,70000 cash at his pointation of accused.
The SHO Chamkani in other action arrested two drug peddlers and recovered three kilogram hashish from their possession.
He said the drug peddlers were identified as Fazal Subhan, a resident of Phandu and Imran.
He said during the interrogation the accused confessed to the crime at his pointation the police recovered three kilogram hashish.
The police lodged first information report against the accused.
