Govt taking initiatives for energy sector uplift: Omar

Minister for Power Division Omar Ayub Khan has said that the government is taking various initiatives for development in the energy sector.
Addressing the launching ceremony of Pakistan State Oil’s first electric charging station here on Wednesday, the minister said it is a welcoming initiative and an important step towards Clean and Green Pakistan.
Omar said that twenty four electric stations will be set up in future, which will help common people of the country. He said the government is taking solid steps to control environmental pollution.
Speaking on the occasion, Special Assistant on Petroleum Nadeem Babar said that opening of a charging station in Islamabad will help encourage electric vehicles as future transportation in the country.
He said this initiative is a welcoming move for the country, which will soon witness electric vehicles running on roads. The special assistant said it will also help the Prime Minister campaign of Clean and Green Pakistan.
Sharing his views, MD & CEO PSO, Syed Muhammad Taha said; “This is yet another step as part of PSO’s ongoing efforts in environmental stewardship. Under the guidance and support of the GOP, we will continue to drive the future of e-mobility in Pakistan by installing more electric vehicle chargers at various highways and in major cities across the country.”
He said that PSO is investing in cleaner energy solutions to reduce the carbon footprint and build a better environment for future generations. “As we lead the sustainable energy revolution, our next step is the introduction of Euro-5 standard fuels at PSO retail outlets,” he said.
