PESHAWAR: The PTI’s August 7 rally would meet the same fate like 2014 Dharna of Imran Khan as the masses were more interested in development works and resolution of their problems rather than going to useless and aimless agitation against the government, which has a very popular mandate of people, said politicians and lawmakers of mainstream political parties here on Friday. In exclusive chat with APP, ANP leader and former Minister for Environment, Wajid Ali Khan said politics of Imran Khan is of agitation and confrontation, adding that his August 7 rally against Government would face the same fate as like PTI’s aimless 2014 Dharna.Inp reported.
He said people of KP cast vote for Imran Khan for change but they are regretting the decision as most of their problems are yet to be addressed.
He said many students in KP are denied to get admission in government colleges and professional institutes, universities in Khyber Pakthunkhwa owing to limited seats and shortage of the institutes making their future bleak.
“Is it not the responsibility of KP Government and PTI Chief Imran Khan to provide quality education to every student of the province,” he questioned. “Where shall these poor students go for higher learning if they don’t get any opportunity here.” The ANP leader said unemployment, poor law and order situation, illiteracy and inadequate health and education services and corruption are the real issues that need to be focused in Khyber Pakthunkhwa.
Instead of addressing these issues, he said, Imran Khan was focusing on politics of agitation as part of efforts to divert the attention of people from real issues besides raising his dwindling popularity graph.
If Imran Khan desires to become the Prime Minister of Pakistan, then he shall deliver in KP where his government is in power, he added. He said the recent amendments in KP Ehtesab Commission (KPEC) would further curtail its powers and impeding the commission to probe embezzlement in on-going projects worth less than Rs 50 million, thus giving a free hand to corrupt elements to loot the taxpayer money. He explained that most of the schemes under Annual Development Program (ADP) involving less than Rs. 50 million, making KPEC meaningless.
The ANP leader said if PTI was interested to eliminate corruption should immediately call back its former DG KP Ehtesab Commission Lt Gen Retd Hamid Khan that would restore confidence of masses on PTI\’ anti corruption efforts. Due to repeated agitation and Dharna politics of Imran Khan, he said, popularity graph of PTI has down in Khyber Pakthunkhwa that was evident of results of PK-8 by election in Peshawar.
He suggested Imran Khan to play its role in Parliament and focus on resolution of problems faced by people of Khyber Pakthunkhwa. He urged Imran Khan to withdraw its Aug 7 rally and sit together with Government for resolution of his problems.
In presence of independent judiciary and parliament, he said, it would be better for PTI Chief to take up his issues in these forums.
Parliamentary leader of PMLN in KP Assembly, Sardar Aurangzaib Nalota said PTI Augst 7 rally would bound to fail like Islamabad Dharna. He said PTI graph has sharply declined due to negative and agitation politics of PTI Chairman and PTI politics was rejected by people in AJK, LG elections and by election in PK8 Peshawar.
Nalota said if KPEC did not take action against corrupt elements in Khyber Pakthunkhwa, PMLN KP would stage a sit in front of KPEC and their protest would continue till arrest of elements involved in corruption in the province.
He said the new amendments in KPEC law were tantamount to allow corruption and financial embezzlement in ongoing development projects in the province besides put durability of the project at stake.
