Shifa Foundation has successfully concluded the third cohort of its flagship “NUR of Tomorrow” Youth Internship Programme at Shifa International Hospital, Islamabad.
The four-day capacity-building programme brought together students from colleges and universities in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and surrounding areas.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony, Shifa Foundation Executive Director Dr. Abdul Wahab Hassan said young people could begin making a positive difference today rather than waiting for the future.
The programme equipped participants with practical skills in emergency preparedness, first aid, CPR, fire safety, disaster response, mental health awareness, stress management, digital and cyber safety, communication, teamwork, professionalism and civic responsibility.
Through interactive sessions, practical demonstrations and group activities, the participants developed leadership, communication and teamwork skills and gained practical knowledge relevant to academic success, employment and community engagement.
The programme also covered digital literacy and cybersecurity, including online safety, privacy, responsible use of artificial intelligence, workplace ethics and professional profile development.
Participants interacted with healthcare professionals, development practitioners, trainers and subject experts, while also gaining confidence to participate in volunteerism, social action and community service.
Coinciding with International Youth Day 2026, the programme highlighted the role of young people in building healthier, safer, more inclusive and sustainable communities.
Shifa Foundation also launched a youth-led tree plantation drive, encouraging participants to contribute to environmental responsibility, climate resilience and the vision of a greener Pakistan.
Director Programs Shifa Foundation Sheikh Younas, in his vote of thanks, appreciated the enthusiasm and commitment of the participating students and acknowledged the trainers, facilitators, volunteers, organisers and supporting teams.
Shifa Foundation said it remained committed to empowering youth, promoting health and safety awareness, volunteerism and community service, and nurturing responsible citizens who can contribute to a healthier, safer and greener Pakistan.
