The murder of a school van driver which caused mass protests in the valley was a case of honor killing and has nothing to do with the acts of terrorism, said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police (IGP) Moazam Jah Ansari.
He made these revelations while addressing a news conference in Swat here on Thursday, adding that Swat during the last two weeks experienced a number of protests against the two incidents and people feared resurging militancy but police investigation reached the conclusion that the attack was the result of some personal feuds between the families.
He shared “the murder of the schools van driver on October was a case of honor killing”. IG-KP maintained further that a man killed the husband of his sister for honour and police have arrested one of the three suspects while other two are still on the run.
Another incident of firing in which apparently children have been targeted in Lower Dir was also an armed clash among some rival groups. The incidents were linked with terrorist’s resurgence but police investigation proved the claims were based on false grounds.
It is pertinent to mention here that some unidentified attackers killed a school van driver in Swat’s CharBagh area on October,10.
Following the incidents a large number people held a massive protest and calls for security against the terrorists incidents. A number of political leaders also took part in the protests delieverd speeches and demanded of the provincial government to take pragmatic steps against the groups involved in the terrorism in the valley. However, it has now established by the police after a comprehensive investigation that it was an act personal enmity and not an act of terrorism.
