Tariq Saeed Marwat Reviews Law and Order Situation in Sensitive Areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Peshawar: Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Home and Tribal Affairs Tariq Saeed Marwat chaired a preliminary meeting today to review the law and order situation in sensitive areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at the Conference Room of the Home and Tribal Affairs Department.

The meeting was held ahead of the meeting to be chaired by the Chief Minister on 18 August 2026 regarding the overall law and order situation in sensitive areas of the province.

The meeting was attended by senior police officials, including the concerned Additional Inspectors General of Police, representatives of the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and Special Branch. The Regional Police Officers of Malakand, Kohat, Bannu and Dera Ismail Khan also participated through video link.

The meeting was briefed in detail on the prevailing law and order situation across the province, with particular focus on security-challenged areas, including Malakand Division, Newly Merged Districts and the southern districts. The overall security plan, existing security challenges, police preparedness, operational requirements and measures to further strengthen security arrangements were also reviewed.

During the briefing, the Regional Police Officer Malakand informed the meeting that joint operations with the Pakistan Army against terrorists are being carried out in the region as part of ongoing efforts to eliminate terrorist elements and maintain peace and security.

Chairing the meeting, Tariq Saeed Marwat emphasized the need for close coordination among the police, Pakistan Army, CTD, Special Branch and other relevant institutions to effectively address emerging security challenges. He directed the concerned authorities to further strengthen intelligence-based measures, inter-agency coordination and preventive security arrangements.

The Special Assistant said that protection of the lives and property of citizens, maintenance of law and order and ensuring a secure environment are among the foremost priorities of the provincial government. He directed all relevant institutions to remain fully vigilant and ensure timely and coordinated responses to security threats.

Tariq Saeed Marwat further directed the concerned officers to ensure that comprehensive security plans are in place for sensitive and vulnerable areas and that available resources are utilized effectively to strengthen public safety.

He said that the provincial government would continue to provide all possible support to law-enforcement agencies and strengthen coordination among relevant institutions to counter terrorism and ensure sustainable peace and security across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
