The tribesmen of Landi Kotal staged a protest demonstration against unbridled price hike in petroleum products and other daily usage commodities here on Sunday.
People from different walk of life including district chief of Pasban Muhammad Tayyab, General Sectary of Khyber Sports Club Kaleemullah, Tehsil President Pasban Salman Shinwari and others participated in the protest rally held at Bacha Khan Chawk, Landi Kotal Bazaar.
The protestors carried placards inscribed with slogans against unprecedented price hiking in routine usage goods.
Addressing on the occasion Muhammad Tayyab,Kaleemullah and other said that the government on the dictation of IMF has dropped another fuel bomb on the nation creating unbearable situation for the citizens of Pakistan.
“We reject the record high price in petrol and other commodities that has made life of poor citizens miserable and demand of the government to immediately withdraw the hike in it,” they remarked.
The demonstrators while raising slogans seeking withdrawal of hike in petrol marched in front of Landi Kotal where it dispersed peacefully.
Separately, on the call of the Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), a protest rally against price hike in petrol and electricity was held here at Khyber Chawk, subdivision Bara on Sunday.
Led by Member National Assembly (MNA)Iqbal Afridi and Member Provincial Assembly(MPA)Shafiq Afridi, a large number of PTI workers besides the general masses took out an anti-government rally, blocked the road sit on fire tyres.
Speaking on the occasion, MNA Iqbal Afridi,Shafiq Sher and others said that imported government of Pakistan Democratic Movement(PDM)has made the lives of poor masses miserable.
Increase in petrol and power twice in a week has compelled people on starvation they added and said it is ironic that the government accepts dictation from abroad rather than to adopt initiatives for the wellbeing of the people.
They demanded forthwith conducting of election, the lonely remedy to control inflation and price hike in the country.
