At least two US military aircraft, including an F-15E Strike Eagle and an A-10 Thunderbolt II, were reportedly shot down by Iranian forces during ongoing hostilities, marking a significant escalation in the conflict.
According to reports, the F-15E was downed over central Iran during combat operations. Both crew members ejected safely, with one rescued quickly and the second recovered later in a complex operation involving heavy air support.
US officials stated that special forces carried out the rescue under dangerous conditions, while media reports suggested helicopters involved in the mission came under Iranian fire, resulting in injuries.
The A-10 aircraft was hit while supporting rescue efforts. Its pilot managed to exit Iranian airspace before ejecting and was later recovered safely.
Despite the losses, President Donald Trump claimed that all American personnel involved in the incidents were successfully rescued without fatalities, praising the military’s response.
Iranian officials, however, described the events as a major victory, claiming additional drones and missiles were also intercepted using advanced air defense systems.
The developments highlight the intensifying military confrontation, raising concerns about a broader regional conflict and increasing pressure on both sides domestically and internationally.
