Woman appointed as member of DRC in South Waziristan

PESHAWAR: A woman has been appointed as member of Dispute Resolution Council (DRC) in South Waziristan upper for the first time. The appointment of social worker Razai Mahsood has set a positive precedent regarding role of women. According to notification issued by Regional Police Officer (RPO) Dera Ismail Khan a 17-membere DRC was constituted on the recommendation of DPO South Waziristan upper Arshid Khan wherein a woman has been included for the first time. The local social and tribal circles have said the inclusion of Razia Mehsood will help resolve women related disputes in better and effective way, timely identification of their problems and their easy access to process of justice.
