Like financial and property damages was inflicted on the locals, the last day torrential rains and flash floods swept away the boundary wall and lab room of Government High School Zen Tarah, Wali Khel,Landi Kotal, Khyber district, teachers of the school said.
The school staff and locals said that the flood caused extensive damages to the state-run school and put the future of approximately 1500 students at risk.
Muhammad Anwar, Senior Primary Teacher(SPT) of the school said that for the last four years, the flash flood started washing away parts of the outer wall of the school.
Besides administration, departmental and forces officials, a complaint regarding control of further damages of the school building had been lodged at citizen postal but to in avail, Mr. Anwar regretted.
He maintained that presently, the flash flood swept away the science laboratory building, five latrines and boundary wall of the primary section of the school.
He urged the authorities concerned to forthwith follow necessary initiatives to protect the rest part of the school.
Local residents, parents and students appealed to the Federal and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governments, elected representatives, and senior officials of the Education Department to immediately release funds and begin reconstruction of the damaged school building and take permanent flood protection measures to safeguard the institution and ensure the uninterrupted education of hundreds of students.
