PESHAWAR
The provincial president of Awami National Party (ANP) Aimal Wali Khan has said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan is running away from the by-elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa due to fear of defeat.
He said that PTI lawmakers in the National Assembly, whose resignations were accepted, have approached the Islamabad High Court to withdraw their resignations.
It is pertinent to mention here that PTI has filed a petition in the IHC that the resignation tendered by its party lawmakers was a political move.
The party has formally requested the court to withdraw their resignations and restore them as lawmakers.
Addressing its party’s corner meeting at district Charssadda, ANP leader Aimal Wali criticized the move of the PTI lawmakers and termed it as a safe way to avoid by-elections in the province.
Aimal Wali said that PTI senior leadership was making excuses to postpone the by-elections in KP because it knew it would face a humiliating defeat in this election.
ANP leader maintained that the PTI government has failed on all fronts and is unable to contest either by-elections or general elections.
He said that the PTI chairman did not produce any evidence of alleged foreign conspiracy against his government, adding that false propaganda was spread in order to gain some political space.
The provincial president added that the recent audio leaks has exposed the PTI leadership, adding a number of constituencies of the province deprived of their real representation in the NA and by-election should be held as per its schedule issued by ECP.
“It is the constitutional and democratic right of the people to send their elected representatives to the assembly for their rights. It is hoped that the judiciary will not deprive the people of the right to elect their representatives,” he maintained.
