Imposition of section 144

Lahore High Court (LHC) has sought reply from Punjab government and other respondents on the petition filed against imposition of section 144 in Punjab,
Justice Ali Zia Bajwa took up the petition from PTI leader Naji Ullah for hearing Monday.
Azhar Siddique advocate argued that in the petition objection has been raised on notification regarding imposition of section 144 on October 3 that section 144 is imposed in extra ordinary situation. Government has made it routine to impose section 144. Notifications are being issued for imposition of section 144 continuously. Imposition of section 144 is aimed at stopping a political party from conducting political activities. Constitution allows political gatherings and political activities. PTI announced to hold public meetings in different districts. Section 144 was imposed in Lahore to stop holding rallies and public meetings. The rights of citizens are being affected due to imposition of section 144. Staging peaceful protest is fundamental right of every citizen under the constitution. Court should nullify the notifications issued with reference to imposition of section 144.
The court while issuing notice to Punjab government and respective DCOs has sought reply from them.
