PESHAWAR
An important meeting was held in Peshawar on Monday under the chairmanship of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Local Government, Arshad Ayub Khan. The meeting was attended by Secretary Local Government, Saqib Raza Aslam, along with all relevant officials.
During the meeting, it was informed that the province’s population data has been obtained from the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), and a detailed briefing was given on estimating the per capita production of solid waste.
It was stated that the daily per capita waste generation in the province ranges from 0.37 to 0.6 kilograms, and the maximum figure was used in calculations.
Based on this, the need and planning for sanitation vehicles in various TMAs were determined. It was decided to provide additional tractors and front loaders with backhoes to disaster-affected areas.
Details regarding the population of all cities, amount of waste, vehicle requirements and availability, and proposed facilities were presented.
On the occasion, Minister for Local Government Arshad Ayub Khan said that the sanitation system in the province is being developed on modern lines, and all available resources will be utilized to provide the public with a clean and healthy environment.
