Police thwarts smuggling of stolen phones to Afghanistan

Police officials foiled an attempt of smuggling of stolen cell phones from Pakistan to Afghanistan and recovered 46 smart phones from Kabul bound Afghan passenger hare at Michni checkpost, subdivision Landi Kotal last evening.
One alleged culprit identified as Islambabd Khan, an Afghan citizen was arrested and put behind the bars for further investigation, police official said.
Police personnel were executing their routine duty when they recovered 46 supposedly stolen smartphones from the custody of an Afghanistan bound passenger at Michni check post.
In the initial investigation the alleged smuggler could not reply to a satisfactory answer on the spot and therefore he was shifted to the police station for further investigation, the police official added.
Case was registered against the phone smuggler and was sent to lockup for further interrogation, police officials said.
According to the phone dealers owing fear of tracing the stolen smartphones, the allegedly robbers sold it to Afghan nationals who took it to Afghanistan where it could be functioned without threat of tracking.
