Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Social Welfare, Syed Qasim Ali Shah, has termed the livestock sector as the backbone of the province’s economy, emphasizing the government’s commitment to achieving self-sufficiency in this critical area.
He was addressing an awareness conference on animal welfare held in connection with ‘World Animal Day’. The event was organized by the Livestock Department in collaboration with Brooke Pakistan for Horses and Mules and other private stakeholders. Shah was the chief guest, while Chairman of the Chief Minister’s Complaint Cell, Samiullah Khan, attended as guest of honor.
The conference was attended by veterinary experts, civil society members, and representatives from various sectors.
In his address, the minister highlighted the importance of animal care, stating that it is not only a moral and social responsibility but also a key factor in public health and economic stability.
“Timely vaccination and proper care of animals are essential for their health and productivity. These seemingly small measures can yield significant long-term benefits,” he said.
Shah noted that the government, in partnership with the private sector, was actively promoting initiatives aimed at improving animal health, working capacity, and overall well-being.
