Security has been beefed up across the provincial metropolis in the wake of the threat alert from law enforcement agencies of any possible terrorism, targeting police buildings and police officers in uniforms.
Acting on information received by the Chamkani police thata few suspects in black clothes and similar to the police were present in a private vehicle near the NHA Northern Bypass office where SHO Shakeel Khan wasmartyred.
SHO Chamkani Iftikhar Ahmed immediately reached the spot along with the police team. However, the private persons fled from the spot while the alleged suspects dressed in police uniform were questioned and refused to do the verification. Following some heated arguments with police officials, SHO arrest the suspect for verification and later on the verification of excise officers he was freed.
It should be noted that Excise officials without senior rank officers were sitting blockades in different areas of Peshawar in police style uniforms and did not even inform the police about their blockade. Police have received a number of complaints.
A written request has been submitted to SP Rural Zafar Ahmad Khan regarding the incident and an inquiry has been started to find out the actual facts.
